1/3  cup cooked beets

1/2  large ripe banana, sliced, frozen or fresh

1/2  cup unsweetened almond milk

1/4  inch piece of ginger, peeled (optional)

1/2  tablespoon maple syrup (optional)

      ice cubes (optional)

preparation

step 1.

In a blender, combine the cooked beets, frozen banana slices, and almond milk. Add the optional ginger and maple syrup if using.

step 2.

Blend on high until smooth. If the smoothie is too thick, add more almond milk until you reach your preferred consistency.

step 3.

If desired, add ice cubes for a colder and thicker consistency and blend once more.

step 4.

Serve the smoothie immediately, dividing it between two glasses.
