1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Step 1.

Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides evenly with the salt and black pepper.

Step 2.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3.

When the oil is hot, add the seasoned chicken breasts to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 165°F (74°C).

Step 4.

Transfer the seared chicken breasts to a paper towel-lined plate or baking sheet. Allow to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
